Plenty of visitors, both local and from much further afield, were out enjoying the glorious sunshine and spectacular setting of Fountains Abbey today, Sunday 25th August 2013.
The Arbeau Dancers have been regulars at the August bank holiday festivities for many years and as always, we were delighted to have the opportunity to perform in such beautiful surroundings.
This year, in keeping with the Georgian theme with Mr Aislabie's Merriment each set took visitors on a whistle stop journey of 100 years of dance and costume, performing in the flamboyant and dramatic Baroque style and then moving on to demonstrate a selection from the more refined and sedate Regency era.
At the end of each session spectators jumped at the chance to learn a simple dance and much hilarity ensued.
